Air pollution in port-cities
The topic has been discussed in Venice on 24th - 26th January 2012, during the third technical and scientific meeting of the APICE project
Harbours represent a significant potential for the economic development all over the Med basin, but they also have a potential negative environmental impact due to multiple emission sources. The project, financed by the European program for territorial Cooperation MED (www.programmemed.eu) - intends to develop a knowledge-based approach for air pollution mitigation and sustainable development of port activities, managed by spatial planning policies at local level. The project's activities are performed in five Mediterranean port cities: Venice, Genoa, Barcelona, Marseille and Thessaloniki.
The meeting, held in Venice on 24-26 January 2012, was the third technical meeting of the Apice project. The meeting was devoted to the discussion of the monitoring campaigns in the 5 project areas and to the activities' definition of Work Package 5 - model application and scenarios for port cities sustainable development strategies.
CORILA attended the meeting together with the Veneto Region, project partner since the beginning.
