Workshop “EGNOS and GALILEO for marine and maritime applications”

 

 

 

 

NEREUS, in collaboration with Veneto Region and CORILA, is organizing a workshop on "EGNOS and Galileo for marine and maritime applications: opportunities and challenges for European regions" on 16th and 17th April 2012 in Venice/Veneto region. The workshop aims at raising awareness for the potential opportunities to exploit EGNOS and GALILEO technologies for applications in the marine and maritime sector. Further to this, a special session will be dedicated to the current EMMIA-call which will be published in the next days. The European Mobile and Mobility Industries Alliance (EMMIA) is a cross-sectoral initiative focused on more sustainable solutions in the field of transport and logistics.

The workshop lasts two days (Monday, 16 April  9.30-18.30 and Tuesday, 17 April 9.00-12.30)and will be divided into 4 different sessions: 
-  An opening session that will bring together representatives from relevant European, national and regional institutions (MEP Antonio Cancian, Member of the ITRE Committee, Michel Praet, advisor for research, development and innovation of the Cabinet of the President of the European Council,  Gian Gherardo Calini, Head of Market Development of the European GNSS Agency and  Paolo Costa, President of the Venice Port Authority)
-  Two sessions dedicated to marine and maritime applications (maritime transport (in every phase: ocean, coastal, rescue), professional and also recreational services; marine activities such as fishing, oceanography, Marine Spatial Planning, oil and gas exploitation, environment protection, etc.) 
-  A fourth session dedicated to port operation
