VENEZIA 2021: Venice, April 2nd-3rd, Presentation of the Research Program for a "regulated" lagoon
VENEZIA 2021
Venice, 2-3 April, Presentation of the Research Program for a "regulated" lagoon
CORILA has just launched an extensive research program, funded by the Provveditorato alle OO. PP. of Triveneto through the Consorzio Venezia Nuova, called "Venezia 2021". The title intends to refer to the situation that will occur at the end of the construction of the mobile barriers to the Venice harbour entrances, when the Venice lagoon system will become "regulated", being able to modulate water exchanges between the lagoon and the sea through the barriers.
The research program entrusted to CORILA, which involves all the Member Bodies (the three Universities of Venice and Padua, and the two national research institutes CNR and OGS) together with some other scientific collaborations, is divided into five themes and fifteen lines, each addressed to specific objectives. Together, they intend to provide to the managing bodies, whatever the form that the management will take, the cognitive tools to understand the short, long and medium term effects of the tides regulation activity, addressing any additional measures where appropriate and possible of mitigation.
On the 2nd and 3rd of April, at the Auditorium "Danilo Mainardi" of the Ca 'Foscari Campus in via Torino, a public presentation event of the research program will be held, schematically articulated as attached.
