GREENHULL

The challenge of the Interreg ITalia-Slovenija GreenHull project "Green technologies for ecological cleaning of the biological incrustation on hulls in the Northern Adriatic Sea" is to solve the problem of pollution in the Program Area thanks to the cleaning of biological incrustations on the hulls, with improving the performance of ships and reducing the introduction of allochthonous species into the environment.

The sea knows no boundaries; the cross-border cooperation approach in the public and private sector is necessary in defining the guidelines for the control, monitoring and management of water and waste from biological incrustations on the hulls and ensuring their more effective cross-border management.

The aim of the project is to improve environmental protection by developing innovative green technologies (BTI) pilot for effective cross-border management of waste water and waste from cleaning biological fouling on the hull of ships.

The biennial project started in March 2020 and it involves Partners with experience and knowledge in various fields: the MPŠ higher education institution for robotic boats and sensors, the NIB research organization for monitoring and biological analysis of the marine environment, ESOTECH d.d. for the planning and production of treatment plants and waste management solutions, CORILA association with extensive experience in communication with public and political actors, the FVG COMET cluster companies in the mechanical industry field.

This project is supported by the Interreg V-A Italy-Slovenia Cooperation Programme funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
