DANCERS

The aim of Project DANCERS - Danube macroregion: Capacity building and Excellence in River Systems (basin, delta, sea) is develop new instruments and tools that will enhance environmental research and promote innovation in Danube Region, including the Danube Delta and the Black Sea. 

KULTURisk

The KULTURisk project (Knowledge-based approach to develop a cULTUre of Risk prevention) aims at developing a culture of risk prevention by evaluating the benefits of different risk prevention initiatives. This evaluation will be carried out by developing a novel methodology and referring to different types of water-related catastrophes, such as river inundations, urban flash floods, storm surges, rainfall triggered debris flows and landslides.

OURCOAST

OURCOAST is a three-year project commissioned by the Directorate General (DG) Environment of the European Commission to support and ensure the exchange of experiences and best practices in coastal planning and management.
Through OURCOAST, the European Commission aims to ensure that lessons learned from the coastal management experiences and practices can be shared and are made accessible to those who are seeking sustainable solutions to their coastal management practices.
OURCOAST will focus in particular on adaptation to risks and the impacts of climate change, information and communication systems, planning and land management instruments, and institutional coordination mechanisms.

VISION RD4SD

VISION RD4SD (VISION Research and Development for Sustainable Development) is a Coordination and support action (2011-2013) financially supported by the European Commission 7th Framework Program. VISION RD4SD aims to ensure that Europe is able to contribute to a sustainable development of the world, by formulating policies and decisions based on robust, up-to-date knowledge. This will be done by developing a shared vision between science funding bodies and national science policy institutions in the European Member States on how best to harness research and development for sustainable development (RD4SD).

APICE

APICE (Common Mediterranean strategy and local practical Actions for the mitigation of Port, Industries and Cities Emissions) is a project financed by the European program for territorial Cooperation MED 2007/2013. It intends to develop a knowledge-based approach for air pollution mitigation and sustainable development of port activities, managed by spatial planning policies at local level, which includes the territory around the ports.

Urban Heat Island

UHI (Urban Heat Island)  is a project funded by the European Interreg Central Europe Programme, started in May 2011 for 36 months. The project aims at developing mitigation and risk prevention and management strategies concerning the urban heat island (UHI) phenomenon.
The UHI is a microclimatic phenomenon that occurs in the metropolitan areas and it consists in a significant increasing of the temperature in the urban area respect to the surrounding peri-urban and rural neighbourhoods.
UHI Project wants to boost transnational discussion among policy makers, local administrators and professionals that will bring to developing policies and actions for preventing, adapting and mitigating the natural and man-made risks arising from the UHI phenomenon.
