Conference "Building Cities Resilience to Disasters"

The United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR) and the City of Venice, in collaboration with CORILA organized the event “Building Cities Resilience to Disasters: Protecting Cultural Heritage and Adapting to Climate Change” which was held in Venice, Doge’s Palace, St Mark’s Square, on  19-20  March 2012.

This event has examined the key role played by disaster risk reduction measures towards the protection of cultural heritage by exploring climate change adaptation policies and plans at local level. An important aim is  to facilitate the sharing of good practices by Cities through direct exchange.

In addition to a poster session, the event offers other cultural activities including a visit by  boat to the tide barriers construction site in the Venice lagoon (MOSE).
