The Global Platform for Disaster Reduction,  biennial forum, organized by the United Nations,  to improve the implementation of disaster risk reduction strategy, is taking place in Geneva on 19-23 May 2013. The Mayor of Venice has been invited to present the experience of Venice.

Erasmus Mundus Master Course on Maritime Spatial Planning: the call for application is open

The Master is organized by a Consortium that includes three European universities ( Università IUAV di Venezia, University of Sevilla and University of Azores) and several associated members such as UNESCO-IOC, EUCC and CORILA. The deadline of the call for application is the 3rd of February.

The European Commission launches a new strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Seas

The strategy has been presented on December 6th during an International Conference in Zagreb. CORILA has been invited to take part to the activities of the Conference and the Director of CORILA presented the maritime “cluster” of Venice

SedNet Short Course on Sediment Management

SedNet, the European Sediment Network, organises a short course on sustainable sediment management that will take place on 20 September in Ferrara, during the Coast Expo 2012 event 

Hydraulic risk prevention

The international conference of the FP7 project KULTURISK (Knowledge-based approach to develop a cULTUre of Risk prevention) took place in Trieste on 25 May 2012. CORILA, partner of the project, presented the research activities carried out in cooperation with the University Ca’ Foscari of Venice.

The wooden foundations of the buildings in Venice

In the research CORILA - Veneto Region "Guidelines for the interventions of consolidation of foundations based in wooden poles" was made in March 2012 a campaign of surveys at the church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Venice. The research is aimed at drawing up a protocol of investigation for the systematic study of the conservation status of the foundations of Venetian buildings, necessary for their monitoring and maintenance.

Workshop “EGNOS and GALILEO for marine and maritime applications”

NEREUS, in collaboration with Veneto Region and CORILA, is organizing a workshop on "EGNOS and Galileo for marine and maritime applications: opportunities and challenges for European regions" on 16th and 17th April 2012 in Venice/Veneto region. The workshop aims at raising awareness for the potential opportunities to exploit EGNOS and GALILEO technologies for applications in the marine and maritime sector.
